Bahrain's urban planning and development authority (UPDA) has embarked on a digitalisation project to boost growth.
Six of the 39 services related to the authority are now available online, with the rest to follow, according to UPDA projects and investment management acting director Shaikh Hamad bin Khalid Al Khalifa.
The official informed members of the Capital Trustees Board that the authority’s services will be fully digitalised by the year-end.“By the end of the year, 39 services will be re-engineered and automated as part of the digital transformation,” Shaikh Hamad said at the council’s regular meeting.
“This will improve the quality and level of services, in addition to reducing the time period for submitting applications.”Council member Dr Lulwa Al Mutlaq welcomed the people-friendly gesture.
“The services that people need from UPDA are usually urgent requirements and paper works take a lot of time as it has to go through several departments before getting cleared,” she told the GDN.
“With digitalisation, things will work faster.“As of now, six services are online and we have been informed that the rest will be digitised this year.” Council member Huda Sultan also echoed similar views citing the simplicity of the UPDA’s new website.
“All you need is some basic information to login and it is easy for people to track their dealings,” she said.“The services include land purchasing, home modification and others which will add value and make an impact on people’s lives.”
