Mubasher: London-based GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) will start production at its new factory in the UAE in 2020, the company’s vice president and general manager for GCC said.
The British pharmaceutical company is considering options for its UAE facility, Sally Storey said in an interview with Gulf News.
“It may be that we don’t build something, we may look [to go] through a partnership,” the newspaper cited Storey as saying.
The company is looking to initially manufacture around six products through its UAE facility, she indicated, declining to specify the products, as well as the value of the investment.
“We’re looking to get the first manufactured product out on the ground in about a year-and-a-half’s time. That one is definitely progressing,” she noted.
It is worth noting that GSK currently produces about 80% of its products in the Gulf of Saudi Arabia.
