Mubasher: UD Trucks, a Japanese commercial vehicle brand, has enjoyed a positive year in 2019, particularly with the launch of the new heavy-duty Quester, a series of major fleet deals, and the collaboration with a new retail partner in Saudi Arabia.

The above highlights have spurred UD Trucks' sales growth across the Middle East, East, and North Africa (MEENA) region, according to a press release on Monday.

Amid significant challenging economic conditions, the Volvo Group brand, saw sales increases across key markets, namely the UAE, Kuwait, and Oman, with Saudi Arabia confirmed as a main focus for 2020.

In the UAE and Oman, sales increased by 10% year-on-year (YoY) each, despite an overall market decline.

Meanwhile, Kuwait has bucked the regional trend with double sales, while in Bahrain, the company continued to rank the first countrywide. Moreover, the brand has reinforced its position in Qatar as the number one brand across the Japanese truck segment and the third brand overall, including the European manufacturers.

2019 was a year of transition for UD Trucks in Saudi Arabia, as Zahid Tractor became the brand’s new exclusive importer and distributor in the kingdom following Rolaco Group. With this exciting collaboration, 2020 is set to be an excellent year for the brand to further grow and improve customer satisfaction.

Commenting on this, president of UD Trucks MEENA, Mourad Hedna, said, “In 2020, we will continue our strategy to grow by reinforcing our market share in countries where we are already present and by entering a number of new markets."

He further reiterated UD Trucks is committed to delivering the highest standards of customer service by closely collaborating with both regional partners and human capital alike.
