BEIJING- The UAE’s participation at Expo 2019 Beijing is an "additional bridge" of cooperation and relations between the UAE and China, Dr. Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to China, has said.
Following the opening of the country’s pavilion today, Al Dhaheri added that the UAE is seeking to utilise more Chinese technology to improve its agriculture sector. It is the UAE’s first participation at the Horticultural Expo.
Its pavilion highlights the country’s achievements and innovation in agriculture and how it has developed since the federation was established, particularly in terms of greening the desert. "We want to share with our friends, the Chinese and the rest of the world, who are participating here, that we are a civilised world and pay so much attention to greening the desert and following the United Nations mandate in terms of the environment.
"We want to share the technology we used in facing the challenges of our environment, which started with our Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and how we are using and utilising advanced technologies right now," he added. Talking about prospects of making use of more Chinese agricultural technologies, he said, "China is very advanced in technology and artificial intelligence, and using these tools in irrigation and addressing our food security have been very important. "There are a lot of initiatives and technology exchange between the two countries, and the UAE is providing an excellent platform in advancing and expanding these technologies to address our particular needs," he went on to say.
"As far as I’m seeing the progress of cooperation and relations in all aspects and the chemistry between both leaderships, I’m certainly seeing a growth in certain industries like technology, Artificial Intelligence, and renewable energy. More projects are expected to come in the future," Al Dhaheri concluded.
