Egypt’s New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) has started trial operations at Kom Ombo solar plant in Aswan, NREA solar energy director Amgad El Huweihi told AlMal.

This 26 megawatts solar power plan is valued at EGP 350 million (EUR 20 million).

The NREA has fully linked the solar power plant with the national electricity network.

On March 27th, Head of the NREA Mohamed el Khayat said that Egypt’s clean energy production would reach 6,600 megawatts in 2020.

He added that the country’s investments in renewable energy near $8 billion of which $2 billion is injected in Benban Project.

In 2018, Spanish energy giant TSK Grupo signed the plant agreement with the Egyptian authority.
