Muscat: Global Connections Centre, an Omani enterprise known as Tawasul; managed by young professional Omanis aiming to empowering the civil society institutions through training and knowledge, in partnership with BP Oman, has officially launched the third edition of the ‘Mulhimat’ programme.

The programme comes as part of BP Oman’s social investment programmes of 2020. The launch took place in a casual get-together event held at the National Business Centre, in the presence of representatives from the National Business Centre, BP Oman, Tawasul and Omani businesswomen. The programme is targeting 25 women entrepreneurs around Oman in 2020. The programme provides business mentorship and coaching opportunities for business growth and enhancement; aiming at elevating and upskilling the Omani women-run SMEs. It is worth mentioning that Mulhimat’s earlier versions benefited 43 businesswomen.

BP Oman has continuously supported the vibrant small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sector. It invests in entrepreneurs and business start-ups through a number of programmes each year.

“We believe that Mulhimat programme addresses important topics of need for the targeted SMEs. The programme understands the requirements of the women entrepreneurs and constantly aims to accommodate individual business needs in the mentorship and coaching sessions. We are proud of our partnership with Tawasul and look forward to another fruitful relationship this year,” Shamsa Al Rawahi, Social Investment Manager at BP Oman, commented.

During the event, Tawasul unveiled a new digital platform offering Mulhimat benefited businesses an innovative solution. Hazim Abdullah Saba, CEO of Tawasul, commented saying, "We continue to invest in advanced new technologies to deliver innovative solutions to our Mulhimat programme beneficiaries. Our strategy focuses on offering sustainable solutions through different platforms – hence introducing the digital platform. This platform will support these women entrepreneurs to access the markets even after we have concluded the mentorship and coaching sessions. Through our digital platform, these local businesses will be able to execute transactions based on the unique requirements of each client and our digital platform has been designed to accommodate multiple trading approaches.”

The event included a welcome speech by Tawasul, followed by a set of introductory presentations about the programme allowing interested women to explore their opportunities to benefit from different tools Mulhimat is offering.
