Mark Rubin, SPE CEO and Executive Vice President, has announced that Michelle Boyd has been promoted to the position of Chief Global Events Officer.
Boyd has been with SPE since 2011 and has most recently served as Director, Middle East, Africa, and South Asia Events. In her new role, Boyd will have responsibility for oversight of SPE events globally. She will remain based in SPE’s Dubai office.
This position was created to fill the vacancy left by the planned retirement of Stephen Graham in mid-April. Graham, Chief Operating Officer, has been responsible for SPE’s global event portfolio.
“I am pleased to have such great talent within SPE that we were able to fill this key position internally,” said Rubin. “Michelle brings a wealth of experience to the role and will be a strong addition to our Executive Team.”
For SPE, Boyd has been responsible for major events such as the International Petroleum Technology Conference and Exhibition, Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, the Middle East Oil Show, the Kuwait Oil and Gas Show, and Oil and Gas West Asia.
Before joining SPE, Boyd was head of conferences for Reed Exhibitions in Abu Dhabi and executive director of conferences and training for the Institute of International Research, now the Informa Group. Boyd began her career in Australia in corporate communications and has run corporate events and communication projects for clients including Pfizer, Optus, Qantas, and TNT in Australia, Asia, Europe, and North America. She holds a BA degree from the University of New England and a MA degree in communication management from the University of Technology, Sydney. -- Tradearabia News Service
