Muscat: The electronic transport services platform 'naql' will include a tracking system for vehicles to ensure the safety of the driver and the vehicle, the Ministry of Transport of Communication announced.

Dr. Ahmed Al Futaisi, Minister of the MoTC said in a statement: "We are proud to launch a transport platform as the first electronic platform specializing in the transport services sector, ensuring speed in the provision of services, an integrated database, regulatory control, follow-up compliance with transport laws, a system for tracking the movement of vehicles and their tracks for institutions, and linking the platform with truck weighing stations."

The ministry said in a statement online: "In the process of building the road transport database by registering in the platform and extracting the operating cards, the technical work will be started in the following phases, which will include activating the service of tracking the movement of vehicles and its routes for the institutions and linking the platform with the truck weights stations."

"The activating of the tracking service is seeking to ensure the safety of the driver and vehicle, and monitoring the extent of compliance with the requirements of the Transport Law," the ministry added.
