Muscat: Under the leadership of the Ministry of Oil and Gas and in collaboration with prominent local and international industries, technology providers, academic institutions and investment organisations, EJAAD is coordinating the efforts to create a national strategy for hydrogen as a promising economic engine.
With its world-class renewable energy resources, established energy production and export industries, centrality in the global trade map with access to world-class ports and shipment routes, and proximity to key international markets make it well placed to produce, use and export renewable hydrogen for economic, social and environmental benefits.
EJAAD has organised a workshop that has brought together more than 40 stakeholders to consolidate the business opportunity, identify strategic partnerships and necessary policy and regulatory frameworks as fundamental building blocks for this emerging economy.
Export infrastructure
Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Undersecretary of Ministry of Oil and Gas, said, “Oman has all what it takes to build a hydrogen economy — reliable renewable sources, world-class industrial and export infrastructure as well as established upstream, midstream and LNG industries. Hydrogen is the new energy economy and we are pleased to work on this mission with EJAAD.”
Raoul Restucci, Managing Director of PDO, said, “PDO eyes hydrogen as a significant opportunity for Oman. This workshop has paramount significance in the sense that its builds a shared vision for the industry — integrating local and international ambitions — and aligns this vision with the government and academic institutions. “
“This working workshop was a great opportunity to establish ‘local and international’ consensus on what’s necessary to build an integrated new economy,” said Abdullah Al Abri, Executive Director of EJAAD.
Ejaad is a membership-based virtual collaborative platform where industry, academia and government can interact and engage in energy-related research and innovation activities.
It works as an enabler or a marketplace that connects academic research and know-how to industry needs, and vice versa.
