NOC Discovery Located On Agoco-Operated Block NC-4
The Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) Shukri Ghanem on 12 March elaborated on an announcement made earlier this month concerning a large oil discovery by the Arabian Gulf Oil Company (Agoco – MEES, 12 March). Mr Ghanem said the discovery was in Block NC-4 in the Ghadames Basin, adding that the new wildcat well, some 250km south of Tripoli, was drilled to a depth of 10,500ft, a point in the middle of the Akakus formation. Well A-NC4 tested at a flow rate of 15,933 b/d of crude oil and 14mn cfd of associated gas on a 1.5in choke. NOC said preliminary leads indicated an important discovery and further tests were being performed to determine overall reserves as well as recoverable reserves.
