MANAMA: Details of a new traditional market (suq) in Hamad Town were yesterday unveiled.

Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam Khalaf said that the engineering blueprints have been approved.

The project was awarded to the Malls property development company under a BD3.5 million contract to construct and operate the suq.

The three-storey project will be built on a land covering 12.303sqm, with a construction area of 28,462sqm.

The first floor will accommodate up to 290 cars, in addition to other services. It will also house 18 outlets for selling vegetables, 16 for selling meat, 16 for selling fish, and other outlets and retail showroom. The second floor will also house a retail showroom.
