KUWAIT CITY - The Kuwait Municipality is coordinating with the Directorate- General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to allocate a site for the construction of a new airport in the northern region, noting that the establishment of the new airport was in line with the studies and proposals of the fourth structural plan, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting an informed source.

On the other hand, the Deputy Director-General for Development Affairs, Eng. Saad Al-Muhailbi, in his response to the proposal of the two members of the Municipal Council, Mishaal Al-Hamadan and Maha Al-Baghli, regarding the adoption of the fourth structural plan as soon as possible, said an additional supplement to the Silk City project of the Northern Islands will be issued later, saying the (Silk City) is an integral part of the fourth structural plan project since it is a developmental and urban complement to the other three regional areas (the urban area, the western region, and the southern region).

Al-Muhailbi added that the integration of the vision of the master plan is linked to all regional areas. Accordingly, the issuance of an additional supplement for the Silk City project after the issuance of the Amiri decree for the structural plan for the three regional regions only is not in the interest of achieving the vision of the structural plan, indicating that “we are in the stage of reviewing the final reports in English, in preparation for their translation into Arabic.”
