LONDON- Miner and metals trader Gerald Group has hired Daniele La Porta to lead the company's strategy on sustainability and environment, social and governance (ESG) issues, the company said on Wednesday.
La Porta previously spent 18 years at the World Bank in Brazil and Washington as a senior mining specialist.
UK-based Gerald has also appointed another woman, Shanthini Thaker, as senior vice president of operations.
The number of women in leadership roles at the company is now 39% of the total.
Gerald's workforce on average comprises 40% women.
The company's chief operating officer and chief financial officer are women, while 33% of the group's board of directors and three of seven trading desk heads are also women.
