AMMAN — Electrical loads on Saturday night reached 3,220 megawatts compared with a morning load of 3,030 megawatts, the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) announced on Sunday.

The night load on Saturday was the highest during the latest heatwave, while the highest morning load was registered on Wednesday with 3,100 megawatts, NEPCO said as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The highest load during the current summer is expected to reach 3,700 megawatts. The highest load last year stood at 3,630 megawatts, which was higher than that of 2019 by 7.4 per cent, Petra added.

NEPCO stressed that the power grid in the Kingdom is capable of enduring any electrical load expected and that there are plans already prepared to deal with extreme weather conditions such as the current heatwave.
