KUWAIT CITY - Wataniya Airways is currently negotiating with the government to settle claims related to the cancellation of some flights and the action taken by the executive authority for the airways to operate charter flights, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a reliable source.

The source said the financial settlement includes Wataniya’s waiver on its real estate assets, indicating the government is calling for about KD2 million from the airways in return for transporting passengers and the cost of settlement will be determined in the coming days.

The source denied rumors on the bankruptcy of the company and the plan to sell it to a local airways, pointing out the sale process is not an option considering there are 28,000 shareholders who are entitled to decide whether to sell it or not. The source added that Wataniya received on Thursday a new chartered aircraft which will be included to its fleet.
