KUWAIT - The Chief Executive Officer of Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) Eng Mohammed Ghazi Al-Mutairi has disclosed the intention of the company to float a project on clean energy in February, indicating that the company will announce the names of the qualifying companies next month.
Eng Al-Mutairi said the company will execute the gigantic “Al-Dabdaba” project for clean energy on behalf of the oil sector in line with the vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to ensure 15 percent of the energy used in Kuwait is derived from clean renewable energy as well as to generate one gigawatt of solar energy in Shagaya Renewal Energy Complex by 2030.
He revealed that KNPC is currently working on preparing a list of companies that are qualified to undertake the project based on technical and financial prowess as well as specifications in line with the international standards related to clean energy industry.
