JEDDAH: Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH), and Malaysian Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz signed an agreement on cooperation in the tourism field in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
According to the agreement, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia will exchange experiences and information on tourism programs and services as well as hotel and resort management, besides cooperating on the development of tourist sites.
Praising the partnership between the two countries in the tourism and heritage field, Prince Sultan said the Kingdom was and is a rich country with its inherited civilization.
"We appreciate the Malaysian government's efforts in preserving its values. Malaysia will be one of first countries in experiencing tourism trips after Umrah program. Therefore, the Kingdom will establish an office in Malaysia to implement an initiative to support the tourism in the Kingdom."
During Prince Sultan's visit to Pakistan, the two countries vowed to work closely on issues of mutual interest, including tourism and culture.
"Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday received Prince Sultan. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest," an SCTNH official said on Sunday.
During the meetings with Pakistani leadership, Prince Sultan discussed bilateral cooperation in tourism and cultural fields.
Moreover, Prince Sultan visited the Sultana Charity Foundation and the centers affiliated to it, the official said.
The foundation, which was established by the late Princess Sultana bint Turki bin Ahmed Al-Sudairi in 1990, mobilizes a series of schools and education centers.
During the past 25 years, over 100,000 students have benefited from the foundation, and more than 8,000 students are studying at various educational levels, from primary to the higher education.
The foundation includes a medical care center, higher studies centers and significantly contributes to the education children from poor families, besides focusing on building behavioral and ethical skills.
The foundation enjoys the personal support of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman as well as the backing of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, besides the follow-up and attention of Prince Sultan bin Salman and his brothers and sisters.
