MANAMA: Government procurement requests valued at approximately BD2.7 million were discussed at the 50th Information and Communication Technology Governance Committee (ICTGC) meeting, chaired by Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) chief executive Mohammed Ali Al Qaed.

Held via videoconference, the meeting covered several strategic projects and procurement requests, most notably the development of a mapping system for the Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB), an important part of the National 3D Mapping of Bahrain program which will convert 2D graphics and paper drawings into advanced three-dimensional models via specialised scanners and software.

The committee also discussed developing apps and services for the Education Ministry, which will improve overall education and support digital empowerment.

It reviewed an upgrade of the Foreign Affairs Ministry network infrastructure, which will enhance its technical security readiness, performance, and efficiency, and link the ministry’s various buildings, consulates, and embassies abroad.

There was also a discussion on the provision of broadcast services to Bahrain TV channels at the Information Affairs Ministry, with the committee noting that savings of 50pc of the contract’s basic value were achieved.

The meeting also covered the development of specialised systems at the Foreign Ministry’s Al Madar Centre by providing advanced AI programmes.

In addition, the committee covered several procurement requests related to upgrading IT services at other government entities and implemented decisions from previous meetings.

Mr Al Qaed also welcomed Linda Janahi as a new committee member. Ms Janahi will represent the Economic Development Board (EDB) on the committee.
