Majority of population of Dubai not yet registered are in the employment category
Eida has sent out close to 24,000 SMSes in Arabic and English to various private sector companies operating in Dubai, called upon the companies to invite their employees to register for the national identity card before June 1, 2012, to avoid being fined.
Aisha Risi, Project Manager, Head of Public Relations and Marketing, Emirates Identity Authority, said that these text messages are part of the media campaign to remind residents to meet the deadline for registration, which is May 31.
Risi says these text messages were directed at companies, because the majority of population of Dubai not yet registered is in the employment category.
Risi said that the text messages were sent in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, which provided phone numbers of most large and medium companies operating in Dubai.
Risi said the messaging campaign comes on the back of the distribution of more than one million "brochures" which were distribute through various government facilities.
Representatives of companies have been asked to coordinate with directors of registration centers in Dubai to help complete registration of employees.
