Cairo –  The Egyptian Minister of Transport, Kamel El-Wazir, announced that the third phase of Cairo Metro Line III at a length of 17.7 kilometres (km) has reached a completion rate of 49%.

The total cost of the third phase, which will include 15 stations, is estimated at EGP 40.7 billion, the minister said in a statement on Wednesday.

The first part of the phase, which will be inaugurated in December 2021, will run from Attaba station to Kitkat station, while the second part, which will be opened in June 2022, will extend from Kitkat station to Rod El-Farag station.

The third part, running from Kitkat station to Cairo University station, will be inaugurated in April 2023.

The total cost of the third line is estimated at EGP 97 billion, El-Wazir revealed.
