The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Mohamed Anany and the Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar discussed ways to increase British tourism movement in Sharm El-Sheikh, after the British government has lifted its travel ban on the resort city.
The British government has lifted travel restrictions to Sharm El-Sheikh in October 2019. The ban has been imposed since 2015 following a Russian plane crash.
The two ministers met with the South Sinai governor on Sunday to discuss ways of cooperation, aiming to increase tourist movement to Egypt and to improve the level of services provided in the tourism sector.
Both officials also discussed linking the Nile valley to the Red Sea by operating internal flights from Luxor to Sharm El-Sheikh and from Luxor to Hurghada, aiming to stimulate domestic tourism and also to facilitate the internal movement for tourists.
During the meeting, they also talked about the introduction of a new integrated type of tourism programmes that combines cultural, beach, and recreational tourism.
The two ministers agreed to cooperate and coordinate continuously, harnessing all efforts to promote tourism and boost the tourist movement through launching initiatives and incentive programmes for tour operators and tour agents.
Mohamed Manar stressed that the Ministry of Civil Aviation and its subsidiaries are keen to develop the services provided to travelers through Egyptian airports.
The Minister of Aviation pointed out that tourism and aviation are two sides of the same coin, as they are considered one of the most important sources of Egyptian national income.
He stressed the need to set a common agenda during the coming period and to cooperate with all the concerned partners, uniting all efforts to ensure having a distinctive tourism product.
Manar pointed out that the political leadership pays great attention to resolve all problems and obstacles facing investors in the aviation, tourism and antiquities sectors.
He assured that the political leadership works on on resolving problems quickly through periodic meetings and cooperation between the concerned ministries and investors, in order to increase the tourist movement and provide various and integrated tourism programmes that satisfy all tourists in Egypt.
