Dubai has played a huge role in the making of the Apple Park, the tech giant's swanky new campus, which looked amazingly sparkling as it hosted guests during the unveiling of new the iPhones on Tuesday.

The event took place in the auditorium of the Steve Jobs Theater located a little distance away from the main campus structure. It houses a lobby with a circular, all-glass wall having the largest carbon-fibre roof built till now.

And this roof -- weighing around 80 tonnes -- has been made by Premier Composite Technologies in Dubai. It was shipped -- in pieces -- to San Francisco. An aerial video by Duncan Sinfield on YouTube shows two flyovers of the lobby: one at the 48-second mark and another at 1:50.

It was in 2013 that the work on the 176-acre site started. Apple Park -- a $5 billion project -- has four floors of office space, a research and development facility, fitness centres, dining facilities, a visitors centre, and the 1,000-seat underground auditorium. Around 14,000 Apple employees will move into it.

Apple Park will be using biogas fuel cells and solar panels that will generate 20 megawatts of power. This will meet 75 per cent of the power needs of the building. It is supposed to be the world's largest naturally ventilated building, which won't require any heating or air conditioning for most part of the year.
