Leading South Korean engineering firm Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Company has been awarded a 780 billion-won ($708 million) contract by a consortium of French energy company Engie and Saudi companies Mowah and Nesma, to build a seawater desalination plant at Yanbu in Saudi Arabia.
Doosan Heavy said the Yanbu-4 facility, which will come up in the region of Alrayyis, some 260 km north of Saudi port city of Jeddah, said a statement from the company.
On completion, it will boast a capacity of 450,000 tonne fresh water per day.
The South Korean plant builder has won similar desalination projects in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Oman over the last four years. The Yanbu-4 facility is likely to be completed by 2023, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
