The Marriott Hotel in Doha is set to undergo a full renovation, the hotel has announced on its website.

Opened in 1973 as the Gulf Hotel, the property will, for the first time, be reimagined since opening its doors on Doha Bay.

The renovation is expected to be completed by the end of 2021 and will require the full closure of the hotel, it said.

All facilities and services will be fully available until September 1, when the hotel will close for renovation, the report said.

"This renovation is a key milestone for this iconic hotel in Doha and reiterates our commitment towards creating an elevated brand experience for our guests," the hotel said.

The renovation will see the modernisation of all guest rooms, public areas, recreation facilities and the conference and meetings space, as well as the food and beverage outlets.

Owner and operator Katara Hospitality has appointed UrbaCon Trading & Contracting as the contractor for Doha Marriott Hotel renovation, said media reports.
