RIYADH: The Saudi Exhibition and Conventions Bureau (SECB) has announced that applications for events in 2017 close on June 30.
"The SECB urges companies licensed to operate conventions and exhibitions in the Kingdom to submit their requests for trade fairs planned in 2017," an SECB official said.
The procedure requires registration on the SECB's official website (www.secb.gov.sa). Every approved and licensed company should submit a separate form for each trade fair that it plans to hold by filling in all the documents online, he said.
He said the registration and deadline for applicants is June 30, with a preliminary plan for next year's trade fairs announced during the second week of August. To get final authorization, operators must complete all the permission requirements two months before the event is held next year.
The criteria for applicants include that they must be Saudi companies or organizations licensed to operate exhibitions and conventions and that each event must not exceed seven days. For jewelry fairs, the duration should not exceed three days, he said.
Operating companies and organizations must not have any legal action against them including suspensions, and criminal and debt convictions. Each event must be specialized and the name in Arabic must express what it intends to achieve in terms of exhibits and content, and respect for all parties' intellectual rights.
The exhibitions should be held only in licensed exhibition halls and hotel lounges and confined to national and Gulf Cooperation Council countries. If there is a plan to sell real estate, this must take place in conjunction with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The SECB has signed a cooperation agreement with the Disabled Children's Association (DCA) to support disabled people in the Kingdom, with the DCA supplying updated information periodically on new events, exhibitions and conferences organized and sponsored by it.
