Citigroup has appointed Wassim Al-Khatib as the new chief executive officer (CEO) for Citi Saudi Arabia (CSA), the bank announced on Tuesday.
Al-Khatib will be responsible for the company’s regulated business in the kingdom, according to a statement.
He will be reporting to Linos Lekkas, head of Citi’s corporate and investment banking for Central/Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, as well as Carmen Haddad, vice chairperson for Citi Middle East and country officer for CSA.
Al-Khatib had worked for the National Commercial Bank (NCB) and NCB Capital for 15 years, recently serving as managing director and head of NCB Capital’s investment banking.
“Wassim is a highly experienced banker with the right expertise to continue driving our strategy of serving our clients and contributing to the kingdom’s generational transformation,” said Haddad.
Al-Khatib’s appointment is still subject to the approval by the Saudi Arabian Capital Market Authority (CMA), the bank clarified.
