Safwan Trading & Contracting Company, a unit of Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa Commercial Company (AAW), said it has been appointed by Boehringer Ingelheim (BI), one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, as its exclusive distributor for the Kuwait market.

A leading player in Kuwait's health care business, Safwan representing a considerable number of well-known multinational principals.

It has been in business since 1967 and is recognized as a major supplier of pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and supplies, and laboratory products; from the health care sector to the Ministry of Health & other ministries, as well as public and private institutions.

In 2005, Safwan was placed as the first company in its category to be enlisted in the Kuwait Stock Exchange.

On the partnership, AAW Chairman and CEO Faisal Ali Al Mutawa, said: "We are honoured to be partnering with an international and world-renowned company like Boehringer Ingelheim. He was speaking at the signing ceremony which was also attended by top Safwan officials including COO Officer Dr Dina Younan, Pharma Manager Dr Tony Gerges, Regulatory PV and Tenders Manager Dr Absullah Al-Enezi and BI General Manager and Head of Human Pharma of GulfIP Mazen Bachir and National Sales Manager Hany El Kasaby.
