The project was announced during the weekly cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday (January 29) at the Gudaibiya Palace.
He ordered officials to step up the project, once construction tenders are awarded, and keep him updated about its progress, reported BNA.
Senior ministry officials updated the Prime Minister on the progress of development projects - such as Muharraq Central Market and the revamping of Muharraq Suq - aimed at enhancing the services delivered to citizens across Muharraq in various fields, said the report.
HRH Premier later tasked the Deputy Premier and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Urbanisation and Infrastructure to follow up on the implementation of the Saada (happiness) project, it added.
He also gave instructions to extend the services that technically and logistically support the shopping and tourism centres in the kingdom to make them more attractive to citizens and visitors, said the BNA report.
This could be achieved through the provision of stimulating and encouraging services, such as free and speed internet and other necessary services, especially at historical markets, like the Muharraq and Manama suqs and others, he added.
