MUSCAT: Al Mouj Muscat has begun a new programme of collaboration with Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) by hosting architect and engineering students at its Community Hub.

This initiative is set to inspire leaders of the future as they learn from a real-life success story of the Sultanate of Oman’s leading lifestyle destination.

Final year architecture students spent two days at the integrated tourism complex, taking part in tours of key buildings as well as workshops on urban planning, design and sustainability.

Working with the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, the initiative was kickstarted by a visit which, as part of Al Mouj Muscat’s corporate social responsibility strategy, seeks to support the talents of the Sultanate’s youth.

Al Mouj Muscat provides its facilities and expert staff to support students with post graduate theses and data collection, as well as assessing design and graduation projects. Other opportunities that sit within the ethos of giving something back to the community, will be to allow individuals to complete their training whilst gaining practical experience working within Oman’s leading lifestyle and leisure destination.

Commenting on Al Mouj Muscat’s sustainable new initiative, Nasser al Sheibani, CEO of Al Mouj said: “It was a great pleasure to welcome these students and to continue providing opportunities for the youth of our country who have an opportunity to learn and see first-hand, what it takes to create a world-class urban destination.

“At Al Mouj, we excel at place making and understand what it takes to put in place everything that’s needed for how people want to live, work and play. Our community is built to grow not just in terms of scale and the number of amenities but in how people interact with one another and feel a real sense of belonging.

“We are looking forward to furthering our relationships with the university and by helping to educate and support the careers of talented individuals, we know we will be playing our part in inspiring the future architects, urban planners and leaders of our nation who will work to realise Oman Vision 2040 and in turn help our wonderful country to grow.”
