The turbines generate approximately 1000 megawatt (MW) of electricity using natural gas as primary fuel and fuel oil (gas oil) as back-up fuel. The desalination plant is comprised of a multiple-effect distillation (MED) unit capable of producing over 100 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD) of drinking water.
