Transguard, the largest cash transiting company in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is planning to launch a new Uber-style smartphone application offering residents the chance to instantly order a range of cleaning and home maintenance services.

“If you need a maid or a driver or any maintenance work done, we will provide all of that for you and it is all going to be done through an app,” Greg Ward, Transguard’s managing director, told Zawya in an interview on Tuesday.

The mobile application will be officially launched in January and services available will include maids, maintenance workers and drivers, who will be rated based on the quality of their services and their fluency of English.

The application will initially be available in the Dubai Marina area, before being expanded to the rest of the UAE in due course.

“There is no cash needed,” Ward said. “You already have your credit card registered on the app. You know how much it is going to cost you to get the service done. All you need to do it is to click and order it.”

Transguard was founded as a small startup in 2001 and quickly developed from a cash carrying service to a multi-tasked entity, offering a range of manpower, money, security and integrated facilities services across the UAE. It is jointly owned by two government companies, Dubai-based Emirates Group Security and Abu Dhabi’s Al Hail holding company.

The company recorded a 38 percent growth in revenue for the fiscal year 2015-2016, with its non-cash related business growing significantly to include construction, aviation and hospitality manpower, along with payroll and transportation services.
