SYDNEY, Aug 26 (Reuters) - Australian construction firm CIMIC Group Ltd said Friday that the chief executive of its Middle East subsidiary Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) was released by Dubai police, nine days after being detained.

"The CEO and MD of HLG, Jos Antonio L?pez-Mon?s, who was detained by Dubai police on 17 August 2016, has been released from custody without bail or any other conditions," the company said in a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange.

"Mr Lopez-Monis has not been charged with any offence."

Last week CIMIC said he had been detained "as a result of a complaint filed with police in Dubai," without elaborating.

CIMIC owns 45 percent of Habtoor Leighton Group and said that company's operations continue as normal.
