Dubai - du, the UAE's fastest growing telecommunications company and the regional innovation leader and Sector Member of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), announced the first-of-its kind collaboration with the ITU, United Nation's specialized agency for information and communication technologies,to introduce a knowledge exchange programmethat targetsboth parties' employees, as part of the ongoing solid partnership between du and ITU.This pioneering initiative aims toestablish an exchange of expertise in various initiatives including internships, training courses and innovation in technology.
The annual knowledge exchange exercise will commence this year. Five employees, from all grades and specialisations, will complete internships varying between one and six months, depending on the training requirements. The training agreement includes both du employees, and ITU employees and members; its primary aim is to keep the interns updated on the latest global technologies and key topics including Smart Sustainable Cities, Future 5G Networks, Radio Spectrum and many more.

As we build a city of Smart Citizens we have to reach out to global leaders and solidify agreements which will enable us to proliferate the importance of the growth and transformation of ICT.

The collaboration agreement followed a meeting that gathered Tariq Albahri, Vice President of Regulatory and External Affairs, Rashid AlAhmedi, Senior Director Special Projects and External Affairs and Mohamed Al Sabri, Senior Director of National Recruitment and Development, from du, in the presence of executives from ITU including His Excellency Mr. Malcolm Johnson, Deputy Secretary General of ITU at the ITU Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.du is actively involved in multiple study groups for current and planned initiatives and cooperation prospects within the different sectors under ITU focus.
