Dubai, UAE, 3 May 2012: At flydubai, we took in-flight entertainment to new heights with the launch of the revolutionary 'Fiber-To-The-Screen®' ('FTTS®') In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system from Lumexis in November 2010. This enabled us to become the only airline in the world to screen movies in High Definition.
This March, we took another leap forward with an enhanced IFE offering - 500 hours of non-stop entertainment featuring 156 Hollywood, Bollywood and Arab movies, 161 TV programmes and 288 music albums. We are the only airline in our class to offer such an extensive range, ensuring that our passengers flying to more than 45 destinations never experience a dull moment!
So sit back and relax, as we present a small teaser trailer of what to expect on a flydubai flight:
Top 10 Highest Grossing Movies: From kiddie favourites Toy Story 3 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 to James Cameron's sweeping epics, Titanic and Avatar, flydubai offers HD versions of the biggest and most popular movies ever to hit the big screen!
And the Oscar Goes To...: The movies on board have been collectively nominated for 153 Academy Awards, taking home gongs for no less than 53; so passengers are spoilt for choice. Among the biggest winners on flydubai are Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, which won all 11 awards for which it was nominated, The Descendants, Inception, Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and Finding Nemo. Passengers can also see Tom Cruise scaling new heights at the world's tallest building, Dubai's Burj Khalifa, when they tune into Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol.
Award-winning TV: For those on shorter journeys, flydubai has 96 hours of Emmy award-winning television onboard, including laugh-out-loud sitcoms Friends and The Simpsons as well as drama series ER and CSI: Miami.
Top Tunes: With more than 50 Grammy-winning artists, from Adele to Rihanna and Coldplay, as well as ABBA, U2 and Michael Jackson passengers can pass the time listening to classics or contemporary melodies. And thanks to the monthly updates, flydubai is able to feature the latest chart toppers within weeks of being released. Highlights this month include Madonna's MDNA and Bruce Springsteen's Wrecking Ball.
Spiritual Journey: We also offer a recitation of the entire Holy Quran by Sheikh Abdul Rahman Ibn Abdul Aziz as-Sudais, the imam of the Grand mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, well known for his characteristic voice.
On Top of the News: With English-language website Emirates 24|7 and the Arabic daily newspapers Al Bayan and Emarat Al Youm available as e-newspapers, you don't have to miss out on the latest news from the markets or gossip from the entertainment world. In April, more than 50,000 passengers read the electronic newspapers, which, when converted to traditional newspapers, would have cleared at least 10 acres of mature forest.
Safety First: Another new innovation for flydubai is the pioneering animated on board safety demonstration created in collaboration with the makers of the popular Emirati FREEJ™ cartoon series. The 3D animation, shown in English and Arabic, features the four Grandmothers from the FREEJ™ series being taken through the safety briefing by a specially-created flydubai cabin crew character.
Every seatback on flydubai's brand new aircraft is fitted with the touch-screen on-demand IFE system. In line with the airline's philosophy of passengers paying for the extras they choose, there are different options to choose from. The Basic package, priced at AED 10, includes all TV programmes, audio and games, while the Premium package, which costs AED 30, includes everything in the Basic package plus movies. Both packages include a free headset. Daily newspapers, flydubai news, the route map and information, however, are free of charge on all flights.
