AMMAN — Japan on Monday extended a $1,260,000 grant to UN Women and the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation to finance a project titled “Supporting rural women’s food security in Jordan”, according to a statement from the Japanese embassy.
The announcement was made during a graduation ceremony for the trainees who successfully completed the homestead agricultural production programme.
The project aims to support rural women’s food security and their rights in the society, according to the statement.
It has trained 555 rural women for the homestead agricultural production so far, and agricultural tools and seeds were distributed to the beneficiaries, the statement added.
