Iranian companies are scheduled to construct 200,000 residential units in Iraq.
Secretary of Iran-Iraq Economic Development Committee Rostam Qasemi made the statement on Sunday in a national conference on prospects of Iraq's ceramic and tiles market, IRNA reported.
Noting that reconstruction of Iraq has not seriously started yet, Qasemi underlined the need for the active participation of Iranian companies in the reconstruction of the neighboring country.
The committee is ready to prepare the ground for the economic activities of Iranian companies in Iraq.
Meanwhile, Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian announced that Iran's power exports to Iraq through the country's western province have witnessed an eye-catching growth in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2013).
"Iran's electricity exports to Iraq via Kermanshah province have reached 1,500 MW this year, up from 1,000 MW last year," Chitchian said, addressing a meeting in Kermanshah on Friday.
Chitchian also described the western province as one of Iran's "strategic" border provinces.
Iran currently exports electricity to Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan and Afghanistan on a daily basis, and new projects are underway to boost the country's power exports in future.
Earlier in December, senior Iranian and Iraqi officials, in a joint news conference in Tehran, stressed the need for further expansion of mutual cooperation in economic fields.
During the news conference, Iranian First Vice President Es'haq Jahangiri and Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki stressed the necessity of increasing exchange of visits between the two countries' businessmen and trade officials.
Jahangiri noted that enhancement of bilateral ties tops the agenda of both Tehran and Baghdad.
"Agreements between Tehran and Baghdad have provided proper opportunities for Iranian businessmen to play a bigger role in gas and housing industries and other sectors of Iraq," he said.
