DOHA: International Islamic (QIIB) has won the "Excellence Award" instituted jointly by the General Council for Banks, Islamic Financial Institutions, Tatweej Academy and the Arab Organisation for Social Responsibility. The award was given to International Islamic in recognition if its pioneering role in designing and launching many trend setting Shariah-based products and services, both at the local and regional levels, in Islamic banking system and social responsibility.
The bank's Chief Executive Officer Abdulbasit A Al Shaibei received the award during a special ceremony attended by a host of public figures, leaders, decision-makers, businessmen from different countries and officials from several Islamic financial institutions. The ceremony was also attended by International Islamic Deputy CEO, Gamal Abdullah Al Gamal.
International Islamic was chosen for the award based on its fulfilling a number of set criteria. These include the bank's credit rating, quality of services, excellent and new products, efficiency of bank staff and IT system used, where social responsibility comes on top.
Al Shaibei said: "International Islamic bank staff feel proud about having the 'Excellence Award' from such prestigious institutions. This also reminds us of the responsibilities that we have been entrusted with to realise further development, enrich the Islamic banking system to cope with the banking development across the world."
