Roads & Transport Authority - Zakia Al Musharrakh: The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC), Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), honoured 155 distinguished taxi drivers under the Drivers Management System in recognition of their quality performance and dedication to provide first-class service to customers. To this effect an event has recently been held at Al Ittihad Rest House at DTC premises in the presence of Directors and Managers and scores of employees.
"The DTC attaches considerable attention to distinguished drivers and allocates an annual budget of about two million dirham as rewards for them under a system that selects drivers on the basis of excellent results achieved in delivering services to customers. The DTC is keen on rewarding cabdrivers on quarterly basis in an effort to upgrade the level of services on offer through adopting an effective drivers assessment system based on daily performance results, and the reduction in accident and offence rates, besides offering training for low-performing drivers," said Mansour Al Falasi, Acting CEO of the Dubai Taxi Corporation.
"The breakdown of 155 drivers honoured was as follows: 5 drivers in Category 1 were granted cash rewards of 10 thousand dirham each, 50 drivers in Category 2 were granted 5 thousand dirham each, and 95 drivers in Category 3 were granted 2 thousand dirham each. In the Best Category in terms of improved performance between the first and second quarters last year, honourees were rewarded with a cash amount of 2 thousand dirham each," elaborated Al Falasi.
"We are continually following up the performance of cabdrivers and rewarding their distinguished efforts. In assessing drivers performance we base our evaluation on a host of parameters that include honesty, customer complaints, results of the mysterious shopper/rider, daily income per kilometer, accidents, traffic fines, and black points.
"The DTC is always keen on the delivery of top class services to customers spanning various spectrums of the community. It also runs requalification programs for poorly-performing drivers who are subjected to specialist training courses, however, the punishment in place goes as severe as terminating the service of drivers whose faults exceed the threshold set by the DTC. The overall system stems from RTA's perception of cabdrivers considering them as RTA ambassadors in daily communication with various community segments.
