Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Alliance Global Group and Amgen (Middle East FZ-LLC) have signed an agreement to offer genetic screening for colorectal cancer patients to identify those with mutations in the RAS family of genes.

The agreement establishes a program called "The AGBL-Amgen: RAS Family Screening Program", which calls upon Next Generation Sequencing Technology to sequence mutations of the RAS family of genes using the world's first FDA approved NGS sequencing platform, MiSeq Dx, manufactured by Illumina Inc. of San Diego, CA.

The program aims at better therapeutic outcome to enhance cancer patient management. Starting with Algeria, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Kuwait, the program will expand to include more countries throughout the Middle East and African region.

Alliance Global Group will work with Amgen Middle East to select and qualify key laboratories throughout the region, provide all necessary instrumentation, training and assay material to perform the sequencing of patients' samples.

"We are quite excited about the AGBL - Amgen RAS program. We believe it brings new hope for many cancer patients across the region and helps in raising the overall treatment outcome for them" Says Dr. Tamer Garawin, the Head of Oncology at Amgen (Middle East FZ-LLC).
