JEDDAH: Forty-four percent of all hotels in the Kingdom have not been classified by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH).

The number of five-star hotels in Saudi Arabia is 111 and the total number of all hotels in the Kingdom is 1,446. Only 641 hotels in the Kingdom are classified.

The Makkah region has 65 percent of the total number of all hotels in the Kingdom. However, 45 percent of them are five-star hotels, and 45 percent of them need to be classified. Madinah has 153 hotels that are not classified by the SCTNH. Tabuk and the Northern Borders region have no five-star hotels. At the same time, Riyadh region was ranked as the third in having five-star hotels. The number of three-star hotels was estimated at about 346, with 252 of them in Makkah.
