AMMAN -- The second phase of the Queen Alia International Airport is scheduled to be inaugurated in August, Transport Minister Yahya Kisbi said on Monday.

During a visit to the airport to check on the project's progress, Kisbi said the expansion includes increasing the gates from 9 to 17 and raising the airport's capacity to accommodate 16 million passengers annually, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

At a meeting with airport officials, he also called for facilitating procedures for passengers.
