DUBAI, 5th July 2016 (WAM) --- Dubais Ladybird Nursery today announced that it has completed the construction of its Early Learning Center, targeting to be the first LEED Gold-certified early years learning facility in the region.

LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a green building certification programme that recognises best-in-class building strategies and practices and enhance sustainability whether its recycling, reducing CO2 emissions, using energy-efficient fans and lighting or efficient water usage.

The Ladybird's Early Learning Center is located in Jumeirah Village Circle and will cater to children ranging from the ages of 4 months to 5 years.

Monica Valrani, CEO of Ladybird Nurseries in Dubai, said that in the eco-friendly building, the air conditioner will be switched off automatically upon opening windows, air conditioning drain water is recycled and re-used for irrigation and each of the 15 classrooms will incorporate energy-efficient fans and lighting.

She said researches show that long-term respiratory illnesses can arise as a result of "sick buildings."
