The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (French: STEG) and the Korea International Co-operation Agency (KOICA) signed an agreement to conduct a feasibility study to set up five 50 MW-photovoltaic power stations in the Tunisian south with an extension possibility up to 300 MW. The project costs $1.700,000 (about 3.7 million dinars) and covers the 2017-2018 period.

The project seeks, according to a joint press release by STEG and KOICA, to develop the southern region of Tunisia, preparing the ground for setting up 5 photovoltaic power stations in Medenine, Tataouine, Gafsa , Kebili, Djerba and Gabes.

The agreement was signed by Resident Representative of KOICA office to Tunisia Yoon Jeehyun and STEG CEO Ameur Bechir and Khalil Kammoun, Director-General of Bilateral Co-operation a the Ministry of Development, Investment and International Co-operation.
