Tunisia and Burkina Faso signed, on Friday in Tunis, eight agreements, programmes and cooperation memoranda, at the end of the 7th session of the Tunisian-Burkinabe High Joint Commission.

The agreements, signed by Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui and his Burkinabe counterpart Alpha Barry, involve education, higher education, scientific research, professional training, employment, health, reproductive health, planned parenthood, sports, culture and social affairs.

Two other bilateral cooperation agreements were signed in the field of rail transport and post, according to a statement of the Foreign Affairs Department, .

Khemaies Jhinaoui proposed the creation of a committee to monitor the implementation of agreements and recommendations of the 7th High Joint Commission.

According to Jhinaoui, the development of a roadmap defining the main axes of the Burkina Faso five-year economic and social development plan of 2016-2020 will be one of the main priorities Tunisia is committed to achieve as soon as possible.

While commending the level of bilateral co-operation, the Burkinabe Foreign Affairs Minister welcomed Tunisia's decision to open an embassy in Ouagadougou and remove the entry visa requirements between Tunisia and Burkina Faso.

He also emphasised his country's commitment to implement the agreements of the 7th meeting of the Tunisian-Burkinabe High Joint Commission.
