More than AED 100 million financial support to education sector signed in agreement with organizations and national universities

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has concluded its participation at GITEX 2016 yesterday (October 20, 2016, Thursday) by honoring its partners from government entities that also participated in the event under the UAE mGov platform, including the government entities that participated in WSIS, which was held in the Switzerland, Geneva earlier this year.

The TRA participated under the UAE mGov platform during GITEX 2016, which included 22 government entities. It signed various agreements to support the education sector worth around AED 100.600.000, as well as agreements to promote cyberspace security, and many of meetings and other events.

H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General, TRA, highlighted the importance of partnership to achieve the country’s vision and goals of global leadership, as well as the happiness and prosperity for the UAE society. He expressed his thanks to the government entities that supported the TRA in promoting the UAE global presence especially in implementing the smart transformation, which improves our services and people’s quality of life while advancing the electronic lifestyle and ensuring customers’ happiness.

The participation of 22 government entities under mGov platform indicates the support and trust of various entities in harmonising government services and the importance of working together to improve government performance. The next stage will be full of challenges and we need to intensify our efforts and continuously collaborate with all the entities to dedicate their efforts to the UAE’s leadership and the international community, H.E. Al Mansoori explained.

The 22 government entities were honoured during a ceremony organized at the Dubai World Trade Center for giving due importance to cooperation between various government entities to achieve the UAE Vision 2021 and promote the electronic lifestyle and smart transformation in the country, and achieve happiness for people in the UAE and enhance their quality of life.

The TRA also commended 11 government entities in a separate ceremony on the same day for their contribution in WSIS 2016 and their role in promoting the UAE’s global presence, which helped boost the country’s innovation indicators as awarded to the UAE delegation.

The TRA featured 12 innovative projects during its participation in GITEX which presents a comprehensive display of ICT’s role in serving the society, being the vital nerve that enables other sectors to improve the quality of life, attain happiness and prosperity for the society and consolidate the smart transformation in the UAE.

GITEX is a major global platform that showcases the latest innovations in ICT and one of the largest technology trade shows in the region to share and exchange experiences, build partnerships and access the latest innovations and products in the sector.
