DOHA: Qatar Stock Exchange (QE) Index dropped 13.66 points or 0.13 percent to close at 10,438.45 points yesterday. On weekly basis, the Index gained 48.49 points or 0.47 percent.

Trading value last week increased by 8.29 percent to reach QR901m compared to QR832.7m on a week ended on October 13. Trading volume decreased by 4.93 percent to reach 22.7 million shares, as against 23.9 million shares, while the number of transactions rose by 19.38 percent, to reach 12,835 transactions as compared to 10,751 transactions.

Market capitalisation rose by 0.79 percent to reach QR562.6bn last week as compared to QR558bn at the end of previous week.

Banking and Financial Services sector led traded value last week with 37.41 percent of the total traded value. Industries sector accounted for 19.45 percent. Consumer Goods and Services sector accounted for 14.52 percent and Transportation sector accounted 9.54 percent.

Banking and Financial Services sector led traded volume last week with 33.02 percent of the total traded volume. Telecoms sector accounted for 20.82 percent. Real Estate sector accounted for 17.14 percent and Industries sector accounted 14.31 percent.

Banking and Financial Services sector led traded number of transactions last week with 35.4 percent of the total number of transactions. Industries sector accounted for 17.69 percent. Real Estate sector accounted for 12.08 percent and Transportation sector accounted for 11.56 percent. Of the 44 companies listed, 14 ended last week higher, while 30 fell.

The Qatari Investors Group led trading value last week and accounted for 11.25 percent of the total traded value. QNB accounted for 10.39 percent and Medicare Group accounted for 8.13 percent. Yesterday, the volume of shares traded increased to 5.2 million from 4 million on Wednesday and the value of shares also increased to QR223m from QR198m on Wednesday.

Of the 44 companies listed on QSE, shares of 41 saw trading yesterday. Of these 14 gained, 22 closed lower and five remained unchanged. Indices of four sectors ended in the green and three sectors ended in the red. QSE Total Return Index lost 0.13 percent to 16,888.71points.

QSE Al Rayan Islamic Index dropped 0.30 to 3,879.03 points and QSE All Share Index dropped to 0.03 to 2,879.78 points.
