The largest privately owned mining group in Oman, Kunooz Oman Holding will be a key contributor to the second edition of the Oman Minerals and Mining Exhibition and Conference that is scheduled to be held from 16 to 18 January 2017 at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre. The international trade event will serve as a business platform for the rapidly expanding mining industry in Oman. The Group companies, including associates of Kunooz Oman, Al Rawas Mining, Mihwar Al Wifaq, Majan Mining, Al Rawas Marble and Granite, Salalah Readymix Company, Carmeuse Majan and Al Rawas Transport, Machinery Hiring and Trading will once again be showcasing their products, services and offerings in this event.

Al Rawas Mining Company mines and exports gypsum to the Pacifica Asian economies and East Africa; Mihwar Al Wifaq produces and sells high-in-demand gabbro in and around Muscat; Majan Mining mines limestone predominantly for the India steel industry ; Al Rawas Marble and Granite quarries marble, cuts and polishes this for the local and international markets; Salalah Readymix Company produces  readymix concrete, other concrete products and aggregates and sand for the Dhofar region; Carmeuse Majan manufactures lime, and Al Rawas Transport, Machinery Hiring and Trading offers transport and hiring of vehicles and equipment across the Group and to third parties.

Organized by Omanexpo along with Awtad, the Conference provides a platform for the mining industry and the regulators to deliberate on the various issues and challenges faced by the sector, explore emerging opportunities and showcase the latest sector developments. The focus will be on examining the existing and upcoming project opportunities in Oman and understanding how mining contributes to the growth, development and transformation of the nation. The event will showcase best practices and the finest contributions from local and international mining companies with an emphasis on robust techniques to advance the mining industry.

In terms of the availability of the economically viable minerals in Oman, it has already been reported that copper, chromite, limestone, gypsum and clay minerals are available. Some of the locations have been studied and mined and some locations are being tapped.
