Discussions centred on collaborations and knowledge sharing to drive growth and transformation in Egypt's technology and start-up sector

Dubai, UAE: Dubai Internet City (DIC), a part of TECOM Group, welcomed a delegation from the Government of Egypt’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Ministry at the GITEX Technology Week 2016. Hosted by Malek Al Malek, CEO TECOM Business Parks and Majed Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of Dubai Media City, the high-level discussions highlighted DIC’s contributions to the UAE’s technology landscape and its role in transforming Dubai into a regional hub for the industry and the start-up ecosystem. 

Representing the Egyptian delegation was Asmaa Hosny, CEO – Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Ahmed El Sobky, Chairman of Board of Directors – Silicon Waha. The delegation’s discussions focused on best-practices, opportunities to collaborate with Dubai Internet City, ando knowledge sharing to help drive similar opportunities for Egyptian technology businesses and start-ups. The delegation highlighted the need to create smart, innovation led economies across the region, and reiterated the role of the technology industry therein.

Dubai Internet City is already home to a large number of Egyptian businesses in the ICT sector. Since its launch in 1999, the Dubai Internet City community has grown to over 25,000 professionals.
