Amman, Aug. 22 (Petra)--Transport Minister Yahia Kasabi said that the cost of the national railway project, which will be implemented over the next 6 years, stands at JD2.2 billion.

During a meeting organized by Jordan News Agency, Petra in cooperation with Hayat FM Radio on Sunday, the minister highlighted the importance of this project as it would link Jordan's with neighboring countries and the Kingdom's governorates to transport goods and passengers.

Kasabi also spoke about transport projects that will be first implemented in the governorates of Zarqa, Irbdi and Madaba, noting that they will be carried out by the Land Transport Regulatory Commission in cooperation with departments affiliated to the Transport Ministry to serve both Jordanians and Arabs.

On the Bus Rapid Transit ( BRT) project between Amman and Zarqa and inside Amman, the minister said that the tender will be floated once the technical plans are completed in cooperation with the Ministry of public Works and Housing.
