Abu Dhabi: Yas Marina Circuit, in partnership with Automobile and Touring Club UAE (ATC UAE), will host the Formula 4 UAE Championship from October 28.

The announcement was made at the circuit’s 2016/18 calendar launch on Tuesday. This year will be the circuit’s most comprehensive calendar with over 377 events over the next 12 months.

The FIA accredited Formula 4 UAE Championship is one of the most important additions in this year’s calendar and is the first of its kind in the region.

It consists of 18 rounds run over six weekends — the majority of which will take place at Yas Marina.

Open to drivers aged 15 and above, the new championship was created by the motorsport world governing body FIA to help local drivers bridge the gap between existing regional racing and elite level.
